Putting First Things First

Before we talk about operating systems, hypervisors, or self-hosted applications, I need to establish the foundation: the Lord comes first. In this post, I want to share what it means to me to be a Christian and how that bedrock shapes my relationship with technology.

Core Beliefs and Personal Testimony

I consider myself a nondenominational, born-again believer. I believe that Jesus Christ was crucified, died, and rose from the dead to pay the penalty for the world's sin. He sits at the right hand of the Father and is part of the Holy Trinity—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Jesus is fully God in the flesh and fully man, exactly as taught in the Scriptures.

I didn't always hold these convictions. For a long time, I spent my life chasing shadows. I was deep into the New Age movement, exploring things like "spirit science," ancient alien theories, and virtually anything that wasn't Jesus.

When I hit my absolute darkest place, Jesus saved me and pulled me out of that mindset.

Diving Into the "Source Code" of Scripture

To ground my conviction so I would never doubt again, I decided to dive straight into what I call the "source code" of the Bible. I began studying the original Hebrew and Greek manuscript contexts and digging into theological research tools.

A few resources and teachers that played a key role in my journey include:

• Dake’s Annotated Reference Bible: A key study tool I’ve referenced heavily.
• Wes Huff: His work on manuscript reliability and historical evidence helped reignite my passion for primary sources.
• John MacArthur & Theological Studies: I enjoy reading and listening to perspectives across the theological spectrum—from Calvinism to Arminianism and everything in between—testing every argument against the word of God.

While there was a period where I stepped back from intense study, my ongoing goal is to rekindle that deep hunger for the Word and maintain rigorous study habits.

How Faith Shapes Digital Stewardship

My faith guides how I analyze history, politics, and daily life—but it also directly impacts how I manage technology.

It explains why I advocate for Linux and open-source ecosystems. Open-source tools provide the transparency and ownership required for true digital stewardship.
